Feeding

Quality Kibble

Please see our page on Why Nutrition Matters for more in dept information.

Quality Kibbles Helps:

  • Overall health of your dog (less vet visits)
  • Decrease behavioral challenges
  • Less shedding & better coat
  • Smaller poop (yay)

Protein Alternating

It is important to alternate your dog's protein source every month. This does not mean switching your dog's kibble brand but rather switching the flavor. Consistently feeding your dog one protein such as chicken every month, leads to allergies, nutritional deficits, and unhappy dogs (would you want to eat chicken for each meal every day?)

Kibble Brands We Recommend:

  1. Orijen
  2. Nature's Logic (what we feed)
  3. Fromm (what we feed)

*Until your puppy is 18 months old (or older), they should eat Large Breed puppy food.

*We feed our puppies Fromm Large Breed Puppy & send home a bag with each puppy.

Kibble Topper

We support feeding your pup a raw diet.

However, we know a raw diet for a 90 pound dog can be expensive.

We advocate for supplementing kibble diets with raw kibble toppers.

Kibble Toppers We Recommend & Use:

  • Sojos
  • Primal
  • Ziwi Peak
  • Raw Duck/ Chicken Eggs

Transitioning Dog Food

Transitioning dog food should be done slowly, over a 10- 14 day period to ease the transition on your puppy's stomach.

Day 1-3: 75% old kibble & 25% new kibble

Day 4-6: 50% old kibble & 50% new kibble

Day 7-10: 25% old kibble & 75% new

kibble

*If at any point your pup's stool becomes loose, decrease new kibble for a few days until stool becomes solid again.
